Painless Laser Hair Removal

Overview | Treatment | Before and After Pictures | Cost

Painless laser hair removal. We want to talk to you about a misleading advertising slogan that is used all too often in our industry: painless laser hair removal. Yes, we know you’ve seen it and yes, it sounds too good to be true because that’s exactly what it is! And unfortunately, despite all the advances that have been made in laser technology in the past few years, laser hair removal still hurts. But we’d like to tell you why that might just be a good thing. Remember the old saying “no pain…no gain”? Well, that definitely holds true here. For laser hair removal to work permanently, it should hurt a bit!

At Celibre Medical, we believe in doing the right thing. In our business, that means giving you, our patient, honest and realistic expectations. It also means providing you with the proper education about your specific condition and its treatment so that you can fully consent to your laser procedure. Why does all this matter? Because if someone is telling you that they have a “painless” laser that can remove your hair, they aren’t giving you the full story. Here is why: for laser hair removal to be effective and permanent, the device must generate enough heat to properly damage the blood flow to the hair follicle. This tiny blood vessel is located at the base of the follicle, which is located deep in the second layer of your skin, also known as the dermis.

As of today, there isn’t a single device out there that can generate sufficient heat energy to penetrate the skin that deeply and do it without you feeling anything! It just doesn’t exist! So, if your laser hair removal doesn’t hurt at all, then it probably isn’t really getting the job done! We haven’t met anyone yet who’s interested in paying for something that doesn’t really work, so don’t fall for the gimmick of painless laser hair removal!

Now that you understand why it should hurt, let us also tell you that we do have things that can help with the pain of treatment. Topical numbing creams do a great job of taking the sting out of each pulse of the laser and can make your treatment much more tolerable. We also think it’s important to let you know that in all our years of performing laser hair removal, we’ve only had a handful of people drop out. Specifically, one or two out of every hundred. In these instances, it is usually a male patient having treatment on a larger area (like his back) that decides that the pain of the procedure is more than it’s worth. Typically, the majority of our patients treating the most sensitive of areas (the face or bikini) do absolutely fine.

We get it. No one likes to hurt. But as of today, there isn’t a painless hair removal device out there that will effectively and permanently remove hair. So, we are stuck with some discomfort for now, but rest assured it’s worth it! Our patients are thrilled with their results and often have more than one body area treated, willing to brave a few minutes of discomfort for a lifetime of the freedom of smooth, hair-free skin!

If you’re wondering if laser hair removal is right for you, please give us a call today! We would love to talk to you more at a free consultation and tell you how this life changing treatment can be worth it in every way.
