Treatment | Before and After Botox Pictures | Cost

You hear about Botox everywhere and the chances are you know someone who has or has had Botox. A friend, neighbor, or coworker perhaps? Botox is the most commonly administered cosmetic treatment in the world, so yes, you know someone who’s had it. And most likely, you’ve seen this person and thought to yourself, ‘Wow, she looks great! I wonder what she uses?’ or maybe, ‘She takes really good care of herself; I wish I knew her secret.’

[thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb]

Let us clue you in on their secret: it’s Botox! Rather than distorting your natural beauty, Botox enhances it. It’s not “paralyzing your face”, but rather selectively relaxing certain muscles to lift up your brows, open up your eyes, and smooth fine lines in the forehead and crow’s feet. Botox can even be used to shape the jawline, softening the angle of the jaw to make it look less square and more tapered. Botox is a highly purified protein injection that in the right hands, can become your new secret weapon in the fight against aging.

If you want to look less tired, more refreshed, and smooth out your skin, then the answer to your Botox question is, “Yes!” At Celibre Medical, we have injected Botox to thousands of patients at our Torrance, CA Botox clinics. We only use high-quality Botox and have had excellent results that are second to none.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox binds to and blocks the little receptors on the muscle that the brain’s signaling system uses to make muscles contract. The signal molecule is called Acetylcholine.

Gradually, over a period of 3-4 months, our muscles regain their ability to contract. These blocked receptors are reopened, which allows the muscle to respond to Acetylcholine again. So yes, Botox is not permanent. It wears off gradually and if you like what it does for you, then come back and see us again.

How Long Does Botox Take to Work?

Botox is injected in very small amounts into the muscles that we want to relax. Within 7-14 days, you will notice these muscles weaken gradually and eventually fully relax, softening the lines on the skin above them.

Is Botox bad? What are the Possible Side Effects of Botox?

The headline “Bad Botox” catches your eye at the tabloid stand while you’re checking out at the supermarket. But, is Botox really all that bad? Botox is indeed a drug. And just like any other drug, sometimes unwanted side effects can happen. The good news is that we know a lot about Botox. Botox has been used for cosmetic purposes for over 30 years! It has an excellent safety track record. BUT, it needs to be administered by a highly skilled injector, such as our experienced injectors at our Los Angeles area clinics.

Having said that, it is still possible to have the following side effects:

  • Diffusion of the Botox that weakens the wrong muscle: this is what can cause ptosis or a drooping eyelid or a crooked or uneven smile.
  • Allergic reaction: while extremely rare, it’s still a possibility as Botox is a drug. More likely caused by the additives used to make Botox stable and deliver it effectively to the muscle.
  • Bruising: this is where injector experience is HUGE. The Botox doesn’t bruise, but know where to put that needle to inject it makes a big difference!

These are all rare, and if they do happen, they generally last a few days to a week. While we don’t intend for any of our patients to experience any unwanted side effect, we are here to see you and discuss any concern you may have after Botox treatment.

Sculptra Injections

Treatment | Before and After Pictures | Cost

You have probably heard of dermal fillers. Names like Restylane and Juvederm seem to be “all the rage” with well-known celebrities. And I know what you’re thinking…. no, it’s NOT a good thing to notice someone’s filler! The point of having dermal fillers is to look soft and natural. It’s NOT to look “filled”. In fact, many people you probably see every day have dermal filler, but you’d never know it! They just look great, which is what you want the world to notice!

[thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb]

There’s another dermal filler product out there that is more of a natural collagen booster than it is a filler. It’s Sculptra, a unique product that can really help boost collagen in large areas in a BIG way. You see, Sculptra is not a gel that you inject like Restylane or Juvederm. It’s actually a powder made of material called poly-L-lactic acid that is re-suspended in saline just before it’s injected into the skin. While the saline is re-absorbed by the body, the particles remain. Over time, your body slowly builds collagen around them. Think of your skin as a yard of dirt and Sculptra as grass seed. With Sculptra, a nice layer of collagen can form in hollow areas just like a thick, lush lawn would on a dirt yard. It works great for larger areas that need volume, like the cheek area or for extremely thin and athletic people who need natural, soft volume, but a lot of it!

Why Does Sculptra Work?

The poly-L-lactic acid particles are made from a material that’s been used in absorbable sutures for decades. So over time, they too will dissolve away, but not before they rev up the skin’s collagen making machine. The results of Sculptra are not immediate (which is what makes it different from the other dermal fillers), but they slowly build over a period of 6-9 months after injection. Sculptra can yield some really amazing, beautiful results. And because it’s YOUR collagen, most people see the results of their Sculptra for up to 2 years! When you consider those results with the fact that the average person loses up to a full teaspoon of collagen from their face every year, you can see what an amazing product Sculptra really is.

What are the Side Effects of Sculptra?

Like the other dermal fillers, there is a risk that you might be red, swollen or have bruising after your Sculptra treatment. Another rare, but potential side effect of Sculptra is that it can sometimes cause small, little lumps called granulomas to form in the skin. If you’re considering whether the benefits of Sculptra are right for you, please give us a call. We would love the opportunity to discuss the unique results we can obtain using Sculptra and if it’s the right treatment for you.

Radiesse Injections

Treatment | Before and After Pictures | Cost

What if we told you there was a way to make your body make more collagen?  It sounds too good to be true, right?  Well, it’s not a cream or a pill and it’s certainly not magic either!  It’s an injectable product called Radiesse.

[thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb]

Radiesse (formerly known as Radiance) is a dermal filler product that’s different from HA products like Juvederm and Restylane.  It is a gel that uses little particles of something called calcium hydroxyl apatite (CaHA) to create some very BIG effects. These little particles act as a framework for your body to make NEW collagen around.

So unlike HA fillers that volumize and then breakdown, Radiesse will give you the same volume boosting effect, but after it’s gone, leave you with some increased collagen in its place!  That’s pretty amazing!

Radiesse can be used anywhere to address the nagging signs of volume loss that come with aging:

  • Cheekbones: While some women have great bone structure, some of us weren’t so blessed!  The cheek area can really take a hit as we age, flattening out making our tear troughs more prominent and the whole lower half of our face look heavy.  Radiesse is a GREAT product for rebuilding this area, as it can really provide some heavy duty lifting, recreating the full, rounded cheeks you had years ago.
  • Marionette lines and oral commissures: Those heavy lines or folds that extend down from the corners of the mouth to either side of the chin are known as the Marionette lines.  Often, if you’ve got them, the corners (or commissures) of your mouth are turned in due to lack of volume in this general area as well. Both of these changes can make you look like your constantly frowning!  Radiesse is a great way to restore a more happy- looking you!
  • Nasolabial folds: Better known as the “smile lines”, these are the deep folds that often form from the corner of the nose and extend down to the corners of your mouth.  Radiesse is an easy way to instantly volumize and stimulate some collagen to keep them looking smooth.  Now that should make you smile!
  • Pre-Jowl sulcus: This is that pesky area on either side of your chin that as it hollows, makes your chin appear more prominent.   And because the jawline isn’t straight or smooth due to volume loss in this area, the back half of the jawline looks heavier, especially when you smile.  This is what’s commonly called jowling.  Radiesse can help restore a more contoured, straight jawline which helps the lower half of the face appear more tapered and makes those jowls disappear.

How Does Radiesse Work and How Long Does It Last?

Radiesse is an injectable gel that can be used to fill both deeper areas, like the cheeks and pre-jowl sulcus as well as folds and creases, like the nasolabial and marionette folds.

At Celibre, we like to describe the CaHA particles in Radiesse as a framework or scaffolding that provides structure.  When it is injected, you will see instant results, but those particles remain there providing a place for collagen to form around and in essence, stimulating your body to make its own “filler” over time.

Deeper injections can really provide some serious lift for areas that need volume and injection into the folds and creases will make them smooth instantly.  Your skin will also get a boost of elasticity and firmness due to the new collagen.    In most cases, Radiesse will last between 9-12 months.  The collagen you make around it may last a lot longer!

Is Radiesse a Safe Choice for Me?

Radiesse is one of the safest products on the market for treating volume loss.  It is the only dermal filler on the market in the U.S. that has two FDA-approved facial uses.  It is both biodegradable and non-toxic.

The CaHA particles themselves are rich in calcium and phosphate ions, which are already part of our bodies naturally.  They are suspended in a carrier gel.  This gel is made up of carboxymethyl cellulose, which is basically a mix of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in addition to glycerin and sterile water.  There is very low risk of allergy to Radiesse and there is no allergy testing necessary before injection.  Anyone can enjoy the benefits of Radiesse!

What are the Possible Side Effects of Radiesse?

Because Radiesse is a deeper injection, its side effects are basically the same as those of the other HA fillers like Restylane and Juvederm.  Temporary redness, swelling and bruising call happen after Radiesse injections.  Usually, the bruising and swelling is mild and only lasts the first few days after treatment.  At Celibre Medical Corporation, we encourage patients to use ice on the treated areas for a while after injections.  This helps reduce both the swelling and severity of any bruising.  While you are probably fine to run errands or return to work after your Radiesse injections, you may not want to schedule any important meetings, get-togethers or photo sessions immediately after you’ve had Radiesse.

At Celibre, our injectors are experts with Radiesse.  They will work hard to reduce and avoid unwanted side effects.  We are looking out for you!

Juvederm Injections

Treatment Before and After Pictures | Cost
Are you tired of looking tired?  Do your friends or family ask if you’re upset about something when you’re perfectly content?  It could be that it’s time to address one of the more unwelcome changes that come with aging:  volume loss.

[thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb]

When we are young, our faces are round and full.  Plump cheeks and lips, smooth skin, and arched brows are all the trademark symbols of youth.  As we age, we lose volume throughout our face.  Volume lost in the forehead, temples, and around the eyes can cause flat brows, frown lines, and deep tear troughs.  As we lose the “apples” of our cheeks, folds around the nose and mouth start to appear, almost like our face is literally sliding downwards!  And NO ONE likes thinning lips and those little vertical lines all around our mouth that make lipstick impossible to stay put!

Good news!  The Juvederm family of dermal fillers can help with all these things.  These are FDA-approved injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid (HA) that can be used to help restore the volume and full features of your youth.  Because HA is a natural, sugar-like molecule that’s already part of our bodies, there is no allergy testing required for Juvederm injections.

HA is a remarkable little molecule that can hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, which makes it a heavyweight for adding volume back where it’s needed most.  Not only are the results of Juvederm injections immediately visible, they often get better over time as Juvederm Injection attracts more and more water.

So if you are looking for a safe, minimally invasive way to turn back the hands of time and look as good (or better!) as you did 5, 10 or even 15 years ago, then Juvederm is a great choice for you.

What are the Side Effects of Juvederm Injections?

Juvederm is a deeper injection, so while you may have some bruising and swelling after your treatment, they both should last only a few days.  It is perfectly normal to have some redness temporarily as well.  While the results of your Juvederm will be noticeable immediately, you may want to consider having your treatment done at least a week or two prior to any major event, get-together, or photography session.

Here at Celibre Medical, we encourage you to come to meet with us for a free consultation at our Torrance, CA clinics.  We are here to answer any and all of your questions about Juvederm Injections.  We want you to feel as comfortable and informed about your treatment as you possibly can be, and together, we can help you look as good as you feel.

Restylane Injections

Treatment | Before and After Pictures | Cost

Do you look in the mirror and often wish you looked as good as you felt? Do you take care of yourself, watch your weight, exercise and avoid the sun, but feel like your face still doesn’t reflect your age? If this sounds familiar, it could be that you’re missing a very important piece of the anti-aging puzzle: volume.

[thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb]

As we age, we lose precious volume in our face. Have you ever really looked at an older, heavier person’s face? They DON’T look their age! Their weight keeps their face full and their skin doesn’t seem to sag or wrinkle as much. Not to suggest you should pack on the pounds to look better, but wouldn’t it be nice if we could all choose where the fat goes instead of nature choosing for us! We aren’t quite there yet, but there is another way to add volume where we want it: dermal fillers such as the Restylane family of products.

The Restylane family consists of three unique products: Restylane Lyft, Restylane and Restylane Silk. While all are similar, each is formulated specifically to target different areas. The specificity of all of the Restylane products lies in the thickness or viscosity of each. Restylane Lyft is thick and its name says it all. It’s a great choice to restore natural volume to hollow temples, cheeks and chins; the areas that need the most volume. Restylane is less thick, but a great go-to for tired, hollow tear troughs and heavy nasolabial folds around your nose and mouth. Lastly, Restylane Silk is aptly named as it has the lightest consistency. It’s smooth, soft volume makes it the perfect choice for enhancing or rejuvenating your lips, giving you back that sexy pout and making your lip gloss fun again!

By adding back lost volume you can literally LIFT your face and re-contour your features, restoring the classic “heart shape” that’s full around the eyes, tapered at the jaw and restore the soft, rounded and full features of your youth. These injections are minimally invasive and have little downtime, but their results are BIG!

An added benefit is what these products can do for your skin. Think of a deflated balloon. Just like the balloon, our skin loses elastin and collagen as we age becoming sallow, thin, and sagging. Now imagine blowing that balloon back up again. It looks much better, right? Well, that’s what Restylane products can do for you. While they can’t rebuild the lost collagen and elastin, they can provide the supporting structure your skin needs to make it appear smoother and firmer too. Who wouldn’t want that?!

What makes Restylane work so well?

Restylane products are injectable gels made up of particles of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is an amazing, sugar-like molecule that is a natural part of our bodies. It is an important part of our skin and joints. Restylane is a totally natural, non-animal based product.  And the very best part is, there’s absolutely no allergy testing required before treatment! Anyone can be treated with Restylane.

Let’s talk more about the wonders of HA. Did you know that it has the ability to absorb up to 1,000 times its weight in water? That’s real lifting power! When Restylane gel is injected into a line or crease, it instantly plumps the skin, filling in that line and helping it look smooth and disappear. When used to add volume back into the cheeks, temples and lips, it works like little pillows that attract and hold onto water to stay fluffed and full. The best part: you don’t have to wait for this to happen! Not only are the results of Restylane treatment visible immediately after treatment, they get better over the next few days as the product starts holding on to water!

How Long will My Restylane Last?

Since there are three different Restylane products, it depends on which product you choose and where you put it. All three have different consistencies in addition to uniquely sized HA particles. While this makes them perfect for treating different problems areas, it will play into the longevity of each as well.

Restylane has been used in the U.S. since 2003. It has medium sized HA particles and is the go-to product for providing volume to tired looking tear troughs. It is extremely versatile and can be used in other places such as laugh lines, lips and even some types of scars as well. It’s effect can last for 6-8 months or longer.

Restylane Lyft, re-branded from Perlane in 2015, contains larger sized particles that go a long way to volumize deeper structures like cheeks, chins and temples. Because the product is placed deeper, it doesn’t get disrupted much by facial muscles and movements.  Most patients will see improvement for 8-10 months or longer!

Restylane Silk, the newest product, was approved in June of 2014. It has the smallest HA particles, so its perfect for areas that you want to look soft and natural like your lips. Patients usually see improvement for 3-6 months with this treatment.

Since HA is present in our bodies, we will break down the HA in the gels just like we do our own. This process happens very slowly, over time. So when you notice unwanted changes returning, please come back in to see us at our Torrance, CA clinics!

What are the Possible Side Effects of Restylane?

As noted above, Restylane products are natural and extremely safe. They require no prior allergy testing at all. Because these injections tend to be a bit deeper, there is a higher risk of bruising after treatment. Many people also have mild swelling after their injections. These can both last a few days after treatment. You are probably fine to return to work or run errands after, but you may want to schedule your treatment awhile out from any important meetings, social gatherings or photo sessions.

Dysport Injections Overview

Treatment | Before & After Photos | Cost

Dysport injections is the chemical cousin of Botox.  It is another form of botulinum toxin type A (what Botox is) that has the same FDA approval to treat forehead wrinkles and frown lines (also called 11’s) between the eyes.  Dysport has also gone by the name Reloxin, but it was approved for cosmetic use in the United States in 2009.  While it’s newer here, its been used both for cosmetic and medical purposes in Europe and other countries for over 15 years.  Dysport is a great choice for anyone looking to smooth and eliminate the lines and wrinkles that come with age.

[thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb][thumb]

Dysport can be used in the same problem areas as Botox.  And just like Botox, it works by binding to and blocking receptors on the muscle so that our brain’s signaling system can’t make the muscle contract.  It blocks the signaling molecule Acetylcholine just like Botox does.  Lastly, it also lasts around 3-4 months, so you will need to come see us again when it wears off.

Dysport injections has become a very popular treatment since it was introduced in the U.S.  It can be used in anyone age 18-65 to help smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles and is a very effective anti-aging treatment.

Often, people are treated with Dysport Injections, but they may refer to it as Botox.  Chances are, just like with Botox, you know someone who’s had Dysport.  It makes them look just as good!  So if you’re considering Botox, Dysport may be an alternative choice for you.  While it is very similar to Botox, Dysport Injections does have some very important differences.

What Makes Dysport injections Different From Botox ?

Before its FDA approval in 2009, Botox owned the market as being the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure in the U.S.  In 2008 alone, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported there were 2.5 million Botox procedures done in the U.S.!  So it made sense to give consumers more options.  As we discussed above, Dysport is gaining popularity because it does have a few advantages over Botox.  Three things that make Dysport different are:

  1. Dysport can work faster than Botox. Some patients have noticed that they see changes in 1-2 days (some within the first 24 hours!) of their Dysport treatment compared to Botox, which typically takes 2 days to see any effect.
  2. Dysport may last longer than Botox. At Celibre Medical, we have heard from many of our patients that their Dysport outlasts their Botox.  We believe this is because of our unique Dysport dosing.  The FDA recommends that the equivalent of one unit of Botox is 2.5 units of Dysport.  At Celibre Medical, we use 3 units of Dysport for every one of Botox.  This means you effectively get a larger dose of Dysport than you would of Botox.  We think this is why our Dysport patients see longer lasting results.
  3. Dysport diffuses better than Botox. What does this mean?  It means that that Dysport can spread to affect a larger area than Botox can.  So for certain areas, like the forehead or crow’s feet, it can take less to treat than Botox because it goes further.  On the flip side, this could also lead to unwanted side effects if the injector is new to using Dysport.  Only trust your Dysport injections to someone who highly experienced with this drug.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Dysport injections

Just like with Botox, unwanted side effects can happen.  So just like with Botox, it is important to only allow an experienced injector treat you with Dysport.  Here are some of the possible side effects:

  • Diffusion of Dysport that weakens the wrong muscles. This is why injector experience with Dysport is HUGE.  Because Dysport already diffuses more than Botox, knowing exactly where to inject and how much to use is critical to avoid getting ptosis (drooping eyelid).
  • Injection site swelling or localized, temporary numbness. You may experience a slight tingling sensation during injection.
  • Bruising at injection sites. Again, the Dysport doesn’t cause bruising, but injector placement of the needle can help avoid a bruise after treatment.

While these are all rare side effects, if they do happen, they generally last a few days to a week.  Of course, if you ever experience a problem after treatment with Dysport, we encourage you to contact us at any time.  We are always happy to see you and take care of any concerns you may have.

If you’re considering treatment with Dysport, come see us.  Celibre injectors are highly trained and understand the special considerations essential to give you the best possible results with Dysport.  We can discuss your specific needs and concerns to make a treatment plan that’s right for you.
