Wrinkle Removal Treatments

Overview | Treatment | Before and After Pictures

Are you considering a cosmetic treatment to remove your wrinkles and help you look as young as you feel, but are overwhelmed about or unsure of which one is right for you? If so, don’t worry because you’re not alone. Often new patients will come to us asking if Botox or Restylane will help them look younger. Although they would love to hear a straightforward answer of one or the other, it is really more complicated than that! Anti-aging treatments can’t be thought of as “in a bubble”. That is, each is designed for a specific purpose because it does a different thing. And usually, we can all use a bit of each!

Wrinkle Treatment Before and After PhotosAt Celibre Medical, we believe that each person that walks through our doors deserves a personalized evaluation and treatment plan. We believe that no two faces are alike, so you will not find a one-size-fits-all approach with us. Our office offers comprehensive anti-aging laser and injection treatments that are based solely on your individual needs. Sure, it would be a lot easier to just do Botox, one type of filler, and have an IPL that we use on everyone, but that approach wouldn’t be in line with the highest standard of care, and that is what we strive for every day!

The following is a list of the different anti-aging treatments that we offer and a little about what each of them can do to help you turn back the clock on your appearance:

Laser Resurfacing

This is the single, fastest-growing wrinkle treatment. Why? Because it works. Wrinkles happen due to the loss of collagen and elastin in our skin. We lose both over time and the ability of our body to make more slows down with age (double whammy!). What can we do to speed it up and instantly make more? Laser skin resurfacing.

Resurfacing is tailored specifically for your needs. It can be as aggressive or as light as you’d like. Different resurfacing lasers can give different results, but they all stimulate the production of collagen in the skin either with direct removal of skin, heat, or a combination of both. It is a great treatment for improving the tone, texture, and tightness of your skin. It can also be used to reduce the appearance of scars.

Celibre Medical only uses FDA-approved resurfacing lasers and we take the time to walk you through the process from beginning to end. The results can be quite amazing!

Injections: Neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport) and Dermal Fillers (Restylane, etc.)

Botox: A name that we all know, Botox is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the U.S. today. Millions of people have discovered the difference that these injections can make and they’re hooked. Botox is a purified protein that works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles. When facial muscles are relaxed, they can’t pull on the skin or surrounding structures. How does this help you look younger? It smooths away lines between and around the eyes and forehead, and lifts your eyebrows and corners of your mouth; Botox can also be used to smooth away bumps in your chin and lines in your neck!

Dysport: If you haven’t already heard of or had Dysport, chances are that you probably will very soon. It’s an up-and-coming cousin to Botox, and it does the same thing (both are Botulinum Toxin Type A). If you’ve used Botox in the past, you can expect the same results with Dysport.

Did we mention that both Botox and Dysport are preventative? Yes, they not only soften and eliminate existing lines and wrinkles but by relaxing certain facial muscles with these products over time, you can effectively prevent them from ever forming in the first place!

Restylane: Restylane is an injectable dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid (HA) gel. It can be used to replace lost volume in the places that we need it as we age such as under the eyes (tear troughs), the lips, the folds around the mouth and nose (nasolabial folds and marionette lines) in addition to numerous other areas. The HA in this product also provides a vital building block for collagen when it’s injected into aging skin. This revives the skin, helping it look thicker, firmer, and more hydrated.

Juvederm: Juvederm is another HA-based injectable dermal filler that can be used to replace or enhance volume in facial structures much like Restylane. It also helps the aging skin produce more collagen and elastin as well. Popular places to use Juvederm include the lips, cheeks, under-eye area as well as the laugh lines.

Restylane Lyft: This product is another in the Restylane family and its name pretty much says it all. Lyft is a thicker, stiffer, HA-based injectable gel that is better suited for deeper injections where lots of volumes are needed. Think of flat cheeks or hollow temples, even sunken-in foreheads for a moment. These are large areas where a lot of filler (or a super-lifting one) is needed to get the job done. All are areas where Restylane Lyft is a better choice than either Restylane or Juvederm.

Restylane Silk: Silk is a third Restylane product that is smoother and thinner than Restylane or Lyft.  It is used in areas where the skin is thin or delicate.  We like to use Silk on the lips for a velvety-smooth appearance.

Radiesse: Radiesse is a different dermal filler from HA-based ones like those described above. It is made up of a calcium hydroxylapatite particle, which is a normal part of our teeth and skeletal bones. These particles are suspended in a thick, opaque gel. When injected, the particles act as a scaffold or support network for your skin and they stimulate your body to make new collagen! This filler is stiff, so it is great to use in areas like deep folds and the cheeks. It is injected a bit deeper into the skin than the other fillers we’ve talked about because of the unique way that it works. Radiesse may also be used in the hands to fill in sunken areas between the veins. Because it forces your body to make its own collagen, it’s a long-lasting product.

Sculptra: Sculptra is unlike any other injection product on the US market.  It’s a bio-stimulator so if you’re over the age of 35, it may be right for you.  At some point in our 30s, we lose the ability to generate new collagen.  But using a unique process, Sculptra can help you generate your own collagen for a more natural, youthful appearance.

We hope this article has given you some baseline knowledge of the extensive anti-aging treatments and services that we offer here at Celibre Medical.
