Although tattoos were meant to be permanent, at Celibre, we can make sure that yours isn’t. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I liked it before I had kids. The artist had something different in mind than I did. All are common reasons why you may not want your tattoo any longer. Regardless of the reason, with 3 different q-switched lasers and over 20 years of combined tattoo removal experience, we can successfully remove all tattoo colors from all skin types.

A few important facts about tattoo removal:

• Multiple treatments are required for successful tattoo removal
• Different colors require different wavelengths of light and therefore a different type or brand of laser for successful removal
• Permanent makeup can be removed in the same manner as traditional tattoos
• Permanent makeup ink can oxidize, turning a bluish, greyish, or orange color after treatment. While this is somewhat common, successful removal of the permanent makeup can still be undertaken even if the ink oxidizes
• Experience matters. The safest and most effective tattoo removal procedures cannot happen with the proper technology alone. The way your nurse or physician uses the technology is the most important factor for your success
• Darker skin types do have a higher risk of hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) in the treatment area, especially if colors other than dark blue, brown, or black have been used in the tattoo
• The ideal treatment leads to the maximum amount of ink removal with minimal side effects such as blistering or bleeding
• Tattoo removal can be painful and numbing cream of lidocaine injections are highly advisable
• The longer between treatments the better as the body takes time to clean and remove the smaller particles of tattoo ink left over after treatment
