It is a unique and remarkable product that has the capability to work in a way that other types of dermal or HA fillers cannot. Like them, it is an injectable, but it works by depositing small particles of something called poly-L-lactic acid into the skin. These particles serve as a stimulus for the body to create new, natural collagen. Yes, you read that correctly! Sculptra helps your body make more collagen as you age!

The treatments are relatively simple. Most patients will require about two vials of Sculptra in a treatment session. Each session generally lasts about 30 minutes. Just as with the HA fillers, your skin will be prepped and totally cleaned prior to injection. You may have some mild discomfort during your treatment, but ice packs and topical numbing cream prior can help dramatically with this.

Just like with other fillers, there may be some tenderness, redness, mild swelling, and bruising following your treatment, but generally, all these will only last a couple of days. If there is bruising, it may take up to a week to completely go away.

Unlike the other fillers, however, you won’t see instant results! But don’t worry! Over the following 6 to 8 weeks, your body will start making more collagen and you will see the soft, natural fullness that Sculptra provides. You will also notice your skin looks tighter and firmer as you build more collagen. Many of our patients see continued improvement in the following 6 to 12 months and some do require more injections to see full improvement.
